The Ontario County Sheriff s Office offers a range of law enforcement and public protection services. It K-9 unit is comprised of members from road patrol and criminal investigation divisions. The K-9 unit is responsible for drug detection and interdiction, tracking missing people and criminal suspects and explosives detection. It civil division is responsible for recording, processing and serving civil court orders. The marine and recreational vehicle division of the Ontario County Sheriff's Office acts as a supplement to the regular patrol function and provides support to the underwater search and recovery team. Additionally, its corrections division operates a safe and secure detention facility in conformance with the New York State Corrections Law. The Ontario County Sheriff s Office is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and is located in Canandaigua, N.Y.
