Nazareth Gevorkian is a renowned luthier, making, restoring and repairing stringed instruments and bows in Los Angeles for the past 25 years. His fine work is sought by performing musicians from Los Angeles and all over the world. His violin shop carries a selection of fine instruments ranging from violins, violas, cellos and bows to carrying strings and accessories. In addition to making fine instruments and bows, Nazareth also performs a range of services from repairs for stringed instruments to complete restorations, acoustic adjustments and bow repairs and re-hairs. He also offers instrument and instrument outfit rentals. Before he made his mark in the strings trade, Nazareth got his start as a violinist and violin teacher. He started studying from the young age of 7 and has performed as a professional violinist for over 60 years. He graduated from the State Conservatory of Yerevan, Armenia in 1973 and played with the Yerevan State Television and Radio Symphonic Orchestra until 1973. In 1974 Nazareth immigrated to America where he played with the Honolulu Symphony in 1976. He later moved to Los Angeles where he continued his career as a professional violinist playing with various Southern California Symphony orchestras including The Master Symphony, Torrance Symphony Orchestra, New Valley Symphony, Burbank Symphony, MESTO, The Beverly Hills Symphony, Redlands and many others. He continues to play professionally till present day. Nazareth Gevorkian has 25 years of experience in the fine art of violin and bow making. In 1991 he studied under the very famous William Salchow - one of Americas most renowned bow makers where he learned the craft of bow making and under Jon Vanderhorst where he learned the preservation and restoration of fine bows. From 1991-2005 he worked in the famed Hans Weisshaar Shop where he learned the art of violin making and restoration. In 2005, Nazareth established the Nazareth Gevorkian Violin Shop where he has been making and repairing violins, violas, cellos, and bows for southern California musicians and musicians from around the world for the past 10 years.
