Dr. Douglas Kelley performs a comprehensive vision and eye health examination on every patient. His examination is designed to detect a wide range of problems affecting visual function, ocular comfort, and pathology. Here at Beloit Family Eye Care we utilize cutting edge technology to assist the evaluation of spectacle prescriptions, peripheral vision, intraocular pressure, and eye health. Examinations include tests for color vision deficiency, binocular vision, neurological functioning, glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Tests are also performed to evaluate ocular effects of many general health disorders such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, as well as side-effects of certain medications. We perform Goldmann applanation tonometry, which yields the most accurate measurement of eye pressure and is not as traumatic as the “air puff” for you, the patient. A dilated pupil examination is performed on all patients as a standard of care. A dilated pupil exam combined with the Optomap digital retinal examination allows us to provide the best assessment of eye health. It is recommended for all new patients and on a scheduled basis thereafter.
