When Reading the reviews on this list, it is important to realize that Dr. Silva, who is referenced in the 2010 entries, no longer owns this business. It was sold to Dr. Adams and Dr. Brockmann.

That said, I have been using Boulder's Natural Animal for the last ten years to treat my dog's IB issue and his general health. There isn't enough positive things I can say about these folks.

Dr. Brockmann is our primary vet and she is wonderful. She listens to your concerns, and takes the time to explain her treatment plan if you have questions. I find her to conservative in her approach to the use of medicines, and compassionate toward my dog above all else.

At those times when your concern for your pet has you upset and a bit emotional, you can trust Dr. Brockmann is doing what's best.

On the occasions when scheduling requires me to see another vet, I have always found them to be both professional and courteous. For the last ten years I have had no reason to visit another vet, and continue to use BNA even though I now live outside Boulder county.

I am new to Boulder and heard about this practice through the dog groomer. We have lived in almost every region in the USA and I have found this to be the most caring clinic I have had the good fortune to experience. Unfortunately , I recently had to put my almost 16 yr old dog down and asked for their assistance. As always they handled the situation with compassion and grace and made my little friend comfortable through the end. Dr. Brockmann is a gem and I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants a knowledgeable caring vet.

Dr. Brockmann, Dr. Adams and t...

Dr. Brockmann, Dr. Adams and their wonderful staff have given new life to Boulder's Natural Animal! WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT DR BROCKMANN?!?!?! For 8 years now my cats have been under the fantastic care of Dr. Brockmann. I was beside myself excited when I first heard that Dr. Brockmann and Dr. Adams were going to take over Boulder's Natural Animal! There was not the slightest bit of hesitation that I was going to support them in any way possible. BOTH of these vets are FANTASTIC! Not only are the vets fantastic but all the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful! Josh (in particular) has been an enormous help to us!

I would recommend this animal hospital to ANYONE in this area. You will not be disappointed with their professionalism, knowledge and compassion. Dr. Brockmann will continue to take care of my furry kids for YEARS to come! Thanks for everything you do Boulder's Natural Animal!

I moved to Boulder over 2 year...

I moved to Boulder over 2 years ago and hadn't settled down with a veterinarian yet.

I took my cat in for a physical exam last week and give Boulder's Natural Animal a heartfelt 5 stars!

When I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early, the staff was ready for me. I didn't have to wait at all, which was great since my poor stressed out cat HATES to be taken out of the house, and historically hates the vet even MORE.

Dr. Adams was our vet. She put me at ease and I could tell that my cat also felt comfortable during the exam, which is seriously a first. I have the kind of cat that has had to be sedated to receive shots. She gave me great advice and also listened to what I had to say about my cat's treatment. There wasn't so much as a growl, hiss, or swipe of the paw during the whole exam, which amazed and impressed me.

The management staff have been very helpful with ordering in my cat's prescription food as well.

I'm quite happy with Boulder's Natural Animal so far!

bad doctor

This doctor uses steriods far too much for my taste and I have never had any issue with my animal dealt with withthe appropriate chinese herbal medication. For a " natural" doctor, I feel like my education as an acupuncturist and herbalist far exceeds what this doctor has done for me. Also, the guy is just rude. Any time I try to engage in converstion with him about natural medicine he treats me like I have no idea what I'm talking about and tries to talk me into taking medications that I feel are over the top. I don't think that his "years of experience" as he told me are worth what I paid to bring my animal to him.

One of the worst experiences of my life

Our 12-year-old cat had Diabetes, a treatable disease, but after four months of attempting to treat him with supplements, dietary changes, and insulin shots, his condition had not improved. He was constantly unhappy and his quality of life was very low. He had more bad time than good time and had to be kept in a bathroom because he couldn't control where he pottied. He was very sick. Finally, we made the most difficult decision either of us has ever had to make, and we scheduled an appointment to have him euthanized.

When Dr. Silver (not our usual vet -- we didn't know prior to the appt that our usual vet wouldn't be there) came in to give our cat the initial injection that would sedate him, he told us that Diabetes is a treatable disease and he was very judgmental of our decision. He said this while giving the injection. We were shocked, but focused on comforting Garry in his final moments. Later, after Garry was gone, we told Dr. Silver that we felt he had judged us unfairly and that, while we knew he was trying to look out for our cat, he should have spoken to us about any questions he had regarding our decision at a time prior to our appointment. I told him that what he had said was inappropriate and insensitive, and he responded that "unnecessary euthanasia" is inappropriate and insensitive. I asked him to please, in the future, try to get more information about a situation before making a judgment. He had no idea what our kitty's quality of life had been or how we had reached our decision, and he didn't try to find out.

Before we left, I again attempted to speak with Dr. Silver. I said that, having worked at a shelter in the past, I could understand where he was coming from. But again I asked him to please in the future try to obtain more information about a situation before making a judgment. He was again very rude and told me, "We're done," before walking away and slamming the door on me. Rather than allow our cat to be cremated by this insensitive person (who, even though he was so judgmental of our decision, still took the money & performed the euthanasia), we decided to take our kitty's body with us and bury him ourselves.

We will never, ever, go back to Boulder's Natural Animal. And we hope that no one ever has to experience anything like this when making the decision to put a friend to sleep.

Horrible vet, wonderful staff.

I previously reviewed this vet as amazing...but after visiting a few times with my pet I realized that while the staff is amazing...the primary doctor, Dr. Silver is arrogant and seems to have very little up to date medical skills. I would not bring my animals back to him if he was the last vet on earth. Do yourself a favor, find another holistic vet in the boulder area.
