Had the best New Year's Eve dinner ever. Loved the new decor - warm and inviting and the art on the wall, by local artists, made us feel we were dining in an art gallery! My husband and I found every course of our meal perfectly delectable. Our server, Scott, was fun and attentive. We will definately be back.

AMAZING!! My husband and I had our wedding reception at Char and it was delicious! The staff was so friendly and on top of everything! The calamari was cooked perfectly and the fish was to die for! We loved the local art that was hanging on the walls. Everything about Char was great and we will go back everytime we are in Boone!

At first glance Char looks awfully promising. And then the food came.First problem was the calamari, which was incredibly bland & lacking in the salt department (sidenote: I can't remember the last time I actually had to salt food that I ordered in a restaurant). Main course was their 'signature fish dish' of grouper atop a bed of house risotto (again extremely bland). The temperature of the food was lukewarm at best.About midway through our dinner, we noticed that the ceiling above us was leaking. This problem was soon noticed by the management yet nothing was done. We gathered our napkins & our empty wine glass (!) to collect the water that was now dripping on one of my dinner companions. Neither the staff nor the management ever offered to move us as we finished our dinner & wine.On the way out, I alerted the manager of the problem and he stated that he had called the owner of the building. I guess I expected a bit more from a restaurant that charges $20+ per plate. I won't be back.
