I went to west Boca outpatient center today to have a procedure done to remove a growth on my neck. I had the procedure at 9am, after my procedure I woke up with a itchy throat, my eyes were swollen shut, my lips were severely swollen. When I told the nurse she said "oh I'll call the doctor" she comes back over to my bed after speaking to the doctor, his response was"oh it's because you were in a weird position and that's why your face is swollen." I was so irritated by this absurd response. I was clearly having a reaction to a medication that was given to me prior to the surgery! No one bothered coming to see what my face actually looked like not one doctor..one of the nurses who discharged me thought that she would be funny by making a joke out of my situation. She said oh there's people who pay big money to have lips as big as yours. This of course was after my husband was in tears when he saw my face upon picking me up to go home. My husband called the doctor who did my surgery after we got home the same day to ask why my face was swollen so bad? The doctor again responded with the same answer.."oh it's because of the positioning during her surgery." My husband was a paramedic for years, and I'm a med student. We both knew I was having a reaction to a medication, but no one wanted to hear that it was a possibility..nor did anyone take accountability to find out what I was having a reaction to for future reference. I will NEVER go to this facilty again! Nor will I ever have a surgery with Dr. Scot Farber again based on the fact that he nor the anestheiologist bothered looking into what my reaction was from. These are the type of doctors that care more about their reputation and not so much about the patient who's suffering. I was also told that the swelling would go down in 24 hrs...14 hours later my face is still very swollen. I've been taking Benadryl and it's not working that well.
