General Info
Our roots run deep! The origins of St. Luke Union Church begin with the early days of McLean County. First Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, was founded in 1834 by Scotch Irish immigrants. In 1964 First Presbyterian Church merged with Pilgrim Congregational Church to form Union Presbyterian Church. The original church building on Bloomington south east side was built by Union Presbyterian Church in 1966. In 1884, German immigrants to McLean County wishing to worship in the Reformed Tradition created St. Luke Evangelical and Reformed Church. Through a series of denominational mergers this church became St. Luke United Church of Christ. Union Presbyterian Church and St. Luke UCC merged in 1975 to create St. Luke Union Church! It has been a unique merger, enriching the spiritual lives of church members in McLean County and providing ministry around the world through the United Church of Christ and Presbyterian Church ( USA ). "St. Luke Union Church gave me the love, support and encouragement I really needed when my life was falling apart." "There is such a warm feeling of family at St. Luke Union."
