About BSD88Bellwood School District 88 is composed of the villages of Bellwood, Maywood, Hillside, Broadview, Melrose Park, and Stone Park. We are located approximately ten miles directly west of Downtown Chicago. The District 88 community with a population of approximately 20, 000 is an attractive, striving community in which residents cite excellent village services, affordable housing ; and improving schools as examples of positive factors within the community. The populations of the seven school sites are culturally rich and economically diverse. The racial composition of School District 88 is African- American- 70%, Hispanic- 27.4%, White 1.9%, and Asian - 0.6%.Serving approximately 3, 400 pupils in its seven schools, the District 88 Board Of Education has committed itself to providing a quality educational program for each of its pupils.Increasing student performance is the number one goal of School District 88.
