Mr. Andrews was recommended to me to represent me in a number of issues. Due to the way he handled my cases I eventually fired him and should have done so much sooner. His lack of action was particularly egregious in 3 cases. In two cases we went before Circuit Court and he, the Assistant States Attorney, the judge, and the "victims" agreed to schedule mediation. Both of these cases were full of holes and in one case it could be proven beyond a doubt that the "victim" was lying about events. In fact the "Victim" perjured himself in District Court on a related matter. Reluctantly I agreed to try Mediation. The cases were rescheduled and Mr. Andrews was responsible for getting mediation scheduled. He utterly failed to make that happen. The result was I had to later accept a deal where I was required to complete a large amount of Community Work Service and the States Attorney had no requirement to prosecute the "vicitims" for abuse of process. Quite frankly it was easier to do Community Work Service than it was to get Mr. Andrews to do the job I hired him for. In another abuse of process where a "vicitm" filed 8 fraudulent cases I repeatedly asked Mr. Andrews how to stop the madness. Mr. Andrews failed to provide me with any options, strategy, or advice. I finally took matters into my own hands and contacted the Sheriffs Department and spoke with them about the matter. The result was the States Attorneys office Nolle-Pro the 8 cases due to the obvious abuse of process by the "vicitims". Ultimately Mr. Andrews claimed credit for that small victory, but in reality he had little to do with the dismissals. The dismissals then resulted in an unwillingness to mediate the other 2 cases described above. The straw that broke the camels back was a VOP hearing and Mr. Andrews failed to prepare for the case. Ultimately he turned openly hostile towards me and refused to provide any advice on how to handle the snafu the day of court. He handed the ASA the exact result the ASA wanted and left me hanging. Even though I had overwhelming evidence against the "victims" that illustrated that they were being less than truthful. To this date the judge isnt aware of the back story and has only heard the false narrative the ASA promulgated. If he bothered to prepare for the VOP case then it likely would have been resolved in my favor. Once again it was easier to plead and accept a punishment than to get Mr. Andrews or the Assistant States Attorney to do their jobs. I could have represented myself and ended up with the same result. My experience with Mr. Andrews was not what I expected. He was unresponsive to questions, did little to nothing to prepare for cases even when he is handed the evidence he needs, he would not aggressively defend you and demand the States Attorneys office end the abuse. He doesn't rock the boat from my perspective and accepts whatever the SA and the court proposes with little to no push back. When you can get a hold of him he makes you feel like your bothering him and that he is to busy to listen to your concerns. He routinely waited till a day or two before court dates to begin engagement, which is much to late to do anything substantive in defense. In hindsight I should have replaced him sooner. I hoped that after writing check after check that he would change his behavior. Instead of changing his behavior he ultimately became adversarial towards me threatening to quit, but then failed to follow thru with the threat. On multiple occasions the matter was more about Mr. Andrews then it was about my case, which a paying client should not have to deal with. He is much to familiar with the States Attorney and will not aggressively defend you. His ego is fine in the courtroom, but gets in the way of his ability to honestly understand his clients concerns. The result speaks for itself. He carries more cases than he can effectively handle. Retain him at your own risk.
