Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative serves more than 40,000 residences and businesses in Walton and Okaloosa counties in northwest Florida. It is a nonprofit cooperative and is one of the largest of Florida s 15 electric cooperatives. CHELCO provides service via more than 3,300 miles of power lines. It was established in 1941 and is headquartered in DeFuniak Springs, Fla. It also serves portions of western Holmes and eastern Santa Rosa counties in Florida via offices in Baker, Niceville, Freeport and Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
