never again

We just moved from out of state. A week before moving we set up an account with $4000 sent by bill pay from our bank there. The money was debited from our account on Sept. 7, and we were told by UHCU there would be 3-5 day hold on the funds. We were using our WA account for travel expenses and the moving truck, and would be traveling for a week, so that was fine.

When we got to the credit union we were told our money would not be available until the 27th. We were left 2000 miles from any help, with $4000 we couldnt access, and $100 a day expenses until we found jobs.

The credit union released $300, and would not budge on anything after that. We had money for one more meal when we finally called our Washington bank, and asked if they could stop payment on those funds, or ANYthing! Marcia, from Columbia Bank (whom I HIGHLY recommend) called the credit union twice to try to work it out and finally got us in on a conference call to tell them the funds were debited from our account for them almost 3 weeks prior, and there was no excuse for holding our money. They finally agreed to release the funds, and we closed all 3 accounts immediately, taking the cash to another bank a couple of days later.

If United Heritage really cared about the people they supposedly are set up to serve, could they not have called to verify the authenticity of the check they had received? Their stated policy is to hold a check on a new account 3-5 business days, unless it is over $5000. This check wasnt, but they held it, knowing it put us with no money to live on and no place to go.
