- Medical Weight LossOur medically supervised program is for our patients with diabetes but is also open to patients who have pre-diabetes or don’t have diabetes at all. People with diabetes frequently reduce their blood-sugar-lowering medication, including insulin, by losing weight on the NextStepMD program. We focus not only on weight loss but maintaining the weight loss long-term.
- Nutritional CounselingWe excel at conducting Phase II-IV clinical, observational and device trials by recruiting directly from our large patient database, working with skilled coordinators and creating a team of enthusiastic Investigators. Our extensive research sites have the capability to perform many protocol-specific procedures, such as nutritional counseling, HbA1c testing, Lipid testing, and Thyroid ultrasounds.

- Thyroid CancerAlthough less common, some nodules do contain cancer. It is not possible to differentiate benign from cancerous nodules by symptoms or clinical exams alone. Therefore, evaluation with a detailed ultrasound is recommended. Suspicion for cancer is based on the ultrasound appearance of the nodules, family history and prior exposure to neck radiation. Nodules of concern are further evaluated by a small needle biopsy, which can be done in the comfort of an outpatient setting at Texas Diabetes & Endocrinology offices. Of the many types of Thyroid cancer, papillary cancer is the most common, but also has the best prognosis. In the majority of patients, removing the Thyroid gland harboring the cancer is curative.
