After growing up in Chicago and Boston, Dr. Hetu Parekh attended The George Washington University in Washington, DC where he majored in Biology and graduated cum laude. He went to medical school at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies and did Pediatrics residency at Long Island College Hospital/Beth Israel Medical Center in Brooklyn/Manhattan, NY. Dr. Parekh was a practicing Pediatrician for 10 years in New York City prior to his Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. He is a Member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology; a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Board-Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and has published several articles in prestigious journals. He sees patients of all ages and treats them for the full spectrum of allergic and immunologic disorders. Dr Parekh, along with English as his primary language, can also speak Spanish, Gujarati and some Hindi. “I had been interested in allergy and asthma since medical school. Over the course of my practice, I saw so many patients suffering from ‘the allergic triad:’ eczema, environmental allergies, and asthma. In addition, I witnessed first hand the dramatic rise in food allergies. As such, I’m grateful to now be able to focus solely on allergy and clinical immunology. My approach to patient care has always been one of collaborative dialogue between physician and patient/family. Thus, it is very rewarding to treat and help the entire family!” He is married and the father of a toddler who seems to never listen to him. He is excited to settle down in Austin and contribute to the community!
