The Austell Police Department safeguards the lives and property of residents, businesses and visitors, as well as maintains social law and order. Its services include routine patrol, traffic enforcement, investigation and crime suppression. The department utilizes tactical operation, drug, K-9, and foot and bike patrol units. The Austell Police Department s communication division handles various police, fire, and medical emergency and nonemergency calls. It employs more than 40 officers and support personnel. The department also supports various community outreach programs, such as the Explorer and neighborhood watch, as well as operates a citizen police academy.
