We went to Ray's for our 3rd anniversary- the food was ridiculous. An ample amount of delicious food that will not leave you hungry- exceptional service starting from the hostess through the wait staff. The calamari was PERFECT and our main courses were even better- I had the scallops and would recommend them to anyone!

My husband and I went to Ray's to celebrate our anniversary, and every part of our experience was fantastic! The service was excellent and the food was the best I have had. The table was set up with flowers and the manager stopped by to check on us. The attention to details was amazing. We can't wait to dine there again!

My husband and I went to Ray's In the City by recommendation from our hotel. We were sat with a small table but the service by Lee ann and John was so sweet and genuine that we had to let it be said.. The food was delicious and fresh.. We had the cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing..If you want good food and amazingly friendly service go to Ray's In The City

In town visiting for the Bronner Brothers hair show 2/21/09-2/23/09. Our Concierge recommended Rays---and I am so glad they did, it was less than a block from our hotel, the service was amazing and the food was wonderful. We went to Rays for lunch. the blacked shrimp po boy was delicious! We ordered the red velvet cake to share...lets just say I wish I had gotten my own! It was soooooooo moist, and only 3.75 for a slice ( nice sized slice). I highly recommned this spot, great service and great food!

We arrived at Ray's in the City after a long day of traveling. The concierge at the Hyatt recommended it. The hostess was very pleasant and we decided to sit at the bar. There was a spattering of people at the bar, approx 8 I think. A very beautiful young woman greeted us with a great smile and enthusiasm. She offered us a wine list and drink menu, informing us also of the half-price appetizers for happy hour. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband ordered a cocktail. We also ordered some calamari and mussels. There was another bartender there and he actually stood in the exact same spot the entire time we were there talking to one male guest while the girl moved back and forth from one end of the bar to the other, making drinks and cleaning up the bar surface. We decided to eat at the bar and the girl told us specials, her favorite items and answered questions in a knowledgeable fashion. She was extremely helpful & charming. I ordered the parmesean encrusted scallops with a lobster risotto that was out of this world! My husband ordered the sun corn crusted georgia mountain trout. Both were absolutely scrumptious! I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through Atlanta. I wish there was a Ray's in my hometown!

Dinner on 10/20/2008. It was a Monday night at 8 pm and the place was busy. Short wait. Of course its a little pricey, but for the quality and service, its fair. Bar service was very good. Table service was professional, friendly and attentive, not ""hovering"". Our waiter was attending a group of about 15, but we never felt neglected. Food was excellent. Well prepared and presented. Desserts were outstanding. Definitely recommended. First time review motivated by excellent experience. Not related to the business in any way.

My wife and I were nervous about going in. The front of the place is very deceiving..We got sat at a booth in the bar area and again were not feeling happy. Being our 17th anniversary wanted something romantic.When our server Lee Ann greeted us not only with a wonderful smile but her great compassion and knowledge; we then were enjoying a special occasion.She made sure that our day was noticed doing what ever she could (telling her our story to a manager). The food was great, atmosphere could have been better, but service made the difference.. Thank you.. Mark Hankey

My first experience with Ray's in the City was extremely disappointing. I made reservations for 8:30 with window seating. When we arrived, the hostess attempted to seat us in an area with no window, so we had to wait another 5 minutes for our requested preference. Service goes down hill from here, but who knew? We were seated, drinks were ordered, and we had to ask for straws three different times, two different waiters. We eventually got them when our food arrived. Within 30 minutes of being seated, another couple was seated at the table next to ours. They were served drinks and bread. Bread? What Bread? We realized we were not given bread. When I placed my order, I?d first asked for salmon but immediately changed it to the seafood platter; same as my husband's choice. We also ordered another seafood platter as well as the crab cake dinner. All meals arrived, except one - MINE. When I finally got it, it was the wrong meal, but the waiter assured me it was what I?d asked for. Given that it was already late and I like salmon, so I kept it. It was uncooked and lukewarm AFTER ALL THE WAIT!!!! Long story short - 3 of the 4 meals were barely touched. After my husband finished his meal, he was greeted by the manager with a direct tap on his shoulder. She says ""Sir, seeing that you ate most of your meal, please tell me how was it?"" He said, ?Well, mine was fine?? She cut him off - ?Great!? then bolted from the table. Rather than call her back, we decided ? NEVER AGAIN!!! The cost for this experience: $161. (I would have enjoyed a much better meal at Ted's Montana Grill. Check it out sometime - it's wonderful!) The following Monday, when I mentioned the name - Ray's In The City - to others, they immediately started to recall their unpleasant past experiences. This is before I ever get around to sharing mine. How sad is that?... Guess I should have checked with them first.

Wife and I were staying at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Went to Ray?s in the City which is across the street from the Marriott if you go though Peachtree Center. They opened at 4pm on Saturdays. We arrived around 3:45. Bar is open then. Glass of beer was $5.50.
There are two different seating areas. We sat facing Peachtree Street. We arrived so early that we were the only ones in the dining area.
Bread is brought immediately. Two different types of bread. Bread was ok. For an appetizer we had BBQ shrimp. Appetizer was great, but only six shrimp. We ordered for entrees the Filet Mignon and the Seafood Sampler. The steak came with mashed potatoes. Seafood platter had fried shrimp, scallops, fried lobster tail, fries, and coleslaw.
Steak was cooked right and was delicious. Seafood Sampler was excellent. For drinks we had two beers and two Shirley temples. Bill was $86.00 before tip. Server was excellent. Gave him a $20 tip. Overall it was great food except the bread was fair. Issue was the price.

Food...it was alright...some of it was very good...some of it was chain seafood quality. If they always have fresh fish I would expect better. Doesn't share the same breath as Papaduex in Gwinnett which still isn't the best seafood resturant I have eaten at. The wait staff was obnoxious. They didn't really care much about my party and at times came across very rude. I wouldn't go back. It was pricey and I can get a better meal from a place that I don't have to pay 12 dollars in parking.

I took a good freind there as a Birthday treat!!! He loved it down to the weird tasting onion rings also known as Calamari. I just couldnt tell him at the time especially after the it's not like we are eating squid or anything comment. They have live music. The pianist sounded just like Elton John. It was a little crowded as we went on a Friday right after work. The service was great. It is a great 1st date place. It is romantic.I prefer Ray's on the River being from Long Island. I love to overlook the water. If in the Mid & downtown area just stop in you wont regret it.

Last weekend, I had to meet a client about new office space at the 191 Peachtree Tower. We needed to have a drink, and went across the street to Ray's In The City. I must admit, knowing where to go Downtown, is a puzzle to me. But this seafood house, helped seal the deal for me. We started at the bar, while waiting for a table. Ordered martini's, and the bartender, I believe his name is Mike, put on a show, making martini's the way they are supposed to be shaken. And did that little guy ever shake them. They were perfect. He was so darn nice, we just stayed at the bar, had oysters on the half shell, and some terrific sushi. If you ever have the pleasure to be downtown on buisness, stop into Ray's! Very nice.

Parking was somewhat of a challenge. Had reservations for 2 o'clock. Were not seated until 2:30, leaving the impression that patrons who arrived after us were seated first. We were there for the Sunday brunch special (Easter). The selection was puzzling i thought. To many forms of salmon in the buffet. The wait staff seemed to struggle with their idenity. Do we want to be so helpful that we are annoying or so rude that it seemst hat you are interrupting their routine. Overall the experience was good, but could use some fine tuning considering price ($32 a plate).

I'll say this much -- it looks good. The presentation of the dishes is about the only visual that outclasses the decor. However, neither was able to offset:
- Getting my ""seared rare"" (the waiter asked me how I wanted it) tuna steak not only cooked medium instead, but COLD.
- Having my table bumped and badly shaken by two separate waiters twice.
- Having the waiter come back with my credit card and receipt to sign, but leave the very large, empty dinner plate in front of me, so I could rearrange it all myself on the small table in order to put the pen to paper.
- Getting food dropped on my portfolio.
As much as I wanted to like my lunch experience, the service was amateurish at best. The waiter also gets the fault on not having the tuna seared rare as asked - I could tell he wasn't listening to anyone but himself speak.
Who's to blame for daring to serve a medium-cooked meal air-conditioner cold? Don't know, but there's no excuse for it.
I'll drop anywhere between $25 and $50 on a meal for good food with no complaint. But I won't do it for poorly prepared food and poor service, even if the visuals are 10 out of 10. Won't be going back - except (maybe) to the sushi bar.

Being a native Atlantan, I've become dismayed at the demise of downtown restaurants. But alas right in Peachtree Center, facing Peactree at street level, is a little gem. Mostly tourists, but a few of us locals, enjoying ourselves without having to go all the way to Buckhead for decent seafood. Food is good and fresh, excellent prices, and very attentive service. Of course I've had seafood at higher prices, but being able to be seated on Peachtree, and watch our beautiful city go by, was a rare treat! Fresh Fish Menu daily! 8/8/07-Update. I just finished working the Atlanta International Gift Market, and decided to go in for a drink. Met one of the nicest, most personalble bartenders, Mike May, and he really made my day. Great conversation, nice guy. I didn't know Ray's even had Sushi. But Mike showed me the way. Downtown is coming back, and this place is a great place to start.

This dinner experience was our final evening on visiting the City of Atlanta. We had no trouble finding it and used the MARTA right across the street to get there. Food was average to taste and price and value was not what we had expected. We will try it again next time we visit to be fair in making our final rating.

WOnderufl addition to the downtown restaurant scene. The seating area looks out onto Peachtree, the streetscape is definitly fun and can be entertaining. I am vegetarain (REALLY, which means I do not eat fish), but I really enjoy the vegetarian dishes that the chef can make. They can readily make a pasta or stir-fry dish, both of which are absolutly delicious. The service is lacking.

I thought this place would have a classy seating area for dinner instead in looked like Denny's booths. If you like to stare out into the streets and look at the scenery you might think the ambiance is great. The bar area is nice with live music. Food to me was average but I got kind of a boring meal the seafood platter ( crab mixture terrible, forgot the scallops, lobster small and weak, salmon definetly not Yukon). I like Rays on the River better for food. My girlfriend got the Mahi- and she loved it, but then again she is not much of a complainer when I take her out. Also, why does the fish tank make you dizzy when you look at it. I had a 55 gallon tank and I would never get dizzy looking into it.
