Established in 1962, the Center for the Visually Impaired is one of the largest private facilities in Georgia. It provides rehabilitative services for visually impaired individuals of all ages. The center helps children to make the best use of their vision through the use of optical and nonoptical devices. The Center for the Visually Impaired s adult rehabilitation programs provide center-based classes in a variety of skill areas to increase independence at home and work. It operates the Social Therapeutic and Recreational Services program that includes educational, recreational and social skills development activities for students aged 6 to 21. Additionally, the center offers individual, group and family counseling services. The Center for the Visually Impaired is located in Atlanta.
