Clean Kitchen You Can See. Great Food...

Great Restaurant! With open kitchen, I trust the food I was getting. Taste great with Chinese standard. The most important factor is the food is clean. I saw the owner

Worse Ever

I don't like to waste, but the food was so disgusting that I couldn't finish it. I live in the area and decided to try this place since its up the street from my house. The fried rice---or what they call fried rice-- was much to be desired. The General Tso chicken taste worse than frozen chinese food. I'm not sure HOW in the world people think the food was good, maybe I got the wrong thing...but how can you mess up general tso chicken??????????

Authentic Chinese fare

I ran out of room for Pros. I was going to mention the large window showing the kitchen (no secrets!), the menu, while recognizable, does not give justice to the high quality of the meals they serve. The prices are reasonable with entrees averaging between 10 and 15 dollars and generous serving sizes, and the lunch menu is even more of a bargain for the caliber of palate-pleasing choices.
Everything is made fresh, and nothing sits under a heat lamp or in a metal tray pre-made, and the taste confirms the freshness. I feel that it is important to mention that, while ethnic background does not necessarily ensure a flawless preference for the respected ethnic food, many of the customers I have seen at the China Inn are Chinese or of Asian descent, and I get the impression that they attend the restaurant in search of something more familiar to their acquired tastes. That being said, while it is owned by a Chinese couple, its staff is diverse and friendly, and the establishment provides delicious Chinese food to multiple demographics, myself included.
It's worth further investigation.

Bland Food, Rude Service

Was staying at a friend's house and this was close by for a to-go order. Prep was fast--10 minutes--but the results were disappointing. I ordered two dishes, both Schezuan-style...with some spice and heat. My chicken was devoid of flavor (though tender) and thought the string beans featured pork there was no zing. They tasted liked something from the frozen food section at Publix. But the thing that really turned me off was the owner (?) a tall and imperious man who took my order. When a large group came in, I yielded my seat for them to wait. I stood near the hostess stand and a young woman asked if she could help. I gestured to the gentleman. He proceeded to berate both of us with a withering two -minute diatribe about how he was handling my order and she didn't know anything. It was extremely conscending and disrespectful to both of us and the other waiting diners looked embarrassed. He capped his rant, with ""Take your food and enjoy it.""

I didn't. And neither will you.

Finally Good Chinese!

We visited this restaurant on Thanksgiving, as we are not very traditional and didn't have family in town. Sadly, it is completely across town, as we live on the west side. It was recommended to us by a native Korean who enjoys authentic chinese. We asked the owner for his recommendations for authentic chinese, as we had heard of the ""other"" menu but can't actually read chinese. He recommended the ""chinese style"" Kung Pau chicken, a mixed seafood dish and the sauteed Snow Pea leaves. All I can say is WOW! Finally, Chinese food that is not gooey, gloppy or sludgelike. In addition, it's not overly sweet, which is great! The vegetables all appear freshy cut (no frozen veggies here) and you can watch your dish being prepared thru the see-through window to the kitchen. The snow pea leaves were phenominal, who would have guessed? And the chinese Kung Pau, simply the best I've ever had. What a wonderful experience. . .please open one on the west side of Atlanta, please?

Avoid this restaurant

I'm very disappointed. This restaurant is just 5 minutes away from home and we used to consider it a good choice in our neighborhood (although certainly not the best). Last week we went there for dinner, and both my husband and I felt sick after eating there. We thought it might have been just a coincidence, so the following day my husband had some of the leftover. Guess what! He felt sick again. I am pregnant, so I was more cautious and just threw all my leftovers away. My husband ordered a dish that had beef and vegetables and I had Chinese-style mopotofu. We are definitely not going back there!

one of these chinese places in atlanta

I eat out a lot, especially out to Chinese restaurants but China Inn has to be one of the best chinese restaurants i've been too. it's the most authentic compared to those other places that serve gloopy sauced meals. I recommend the pocket tofu, spicy beef or fish bowls, shredded pork and beef, and the fish soup. The restaurant is very clean and even has an open kitchen.

Best Chinese Food PERIOD

Sad to hear that one reviewer had such a bad experience. I have never heard of anyone else being ill. I have been eating at the china inn for over 6 years. The food is always fresh and delicious. The sauces are always bright and fresh tasting- not like the typical gloppy Chinese food one usually gets elsewhere.

The best items to order: salt and pepper calimari, dry-shredded beef, spicy beef bowl (lots of garlic!), walnut shrimp, salt and pepper pork, sauteed snow pea leaves!

Avoid this restaurant

Yes, the restaurant looks nice. Yes, the decor is pleasing. Yes, the open kitchen looks wonderful and the food is well presented. HOWEVER, please beware. Twice, I or someone in my family have gotten a food-related illness after eating here. Please notice, I'm saying twice. Amazingly, after the first time, we came back again. We thought it was a fluke, and that perhaps it wasn't the food. So, in the spirit of fairness, and since the decor and ambience were nice, we decided to give it another shot. Clearly, our mistake. I have never been compelled to write a negative review, even when the food or service have been below par. In this case, I believe there is the issue of a potential health hazard. There are other good Chinese restaurants in town - just down the street, as a matter of fact. Do yourself and your family a favor and go elsewhere!

Amazing Chinese food

One of the best Chinese restaurants in all of Atlanta. This restaurant does not resemble your typical, family-owned restaurant in a shopping center. The interior is actually decorated in a simplistic, pleasing manner. There are two different menus, one in Chinese and one in English. Attempt taking a person that can read Chinese fluently. The Chinese menu one obviously has a few items that one would ordinarily not consider eating. However, those dishes are fantastic. In some cases, it may be recommended that you try a dish first before asking what it is. However, for the more conservative, there are numerous dishes that will pleasure your taste buds.

Beautiful restaurant, Excellent Food!

This restaurant when above and beyond my expectations! First of all, the dining room is very new and comfortable. The fish tanks had beautiful exotic fish on display to add the the relaxing ambiance. Then the food came....wow! Sooo good. We have tried a million Chinese restaurants in Atlanta only to be dissapointed by one aspect or another, but not with this place. We went with the Chinese-American menu with standard Chinese dishes found at most restaurants but the taste was fabulous! You can also order from a menu written in Chinese, as the other Asian customers did, and get authentic Chinese. The prices were great as well. Also, the service was superior. Food brought out quickly, drinks refilled before we knew we were running low, and courteous wait staff rounded out a perfect dining experience. At last, we have found our favorite spot for Chinese!!! See ya later Chin Chin!

Best Chinese

This is an excelent Chinese restaurant. I started going here about a year after I moved to Atlanta, and was very dissapointed when it burned down in 2004?. But now that they have fixed everything up the actual dining room is very nice, and the food is excelent. I reccomend the Schezwan boiled beef, chinese style. It is really REALLY spicey but is one of my favorite eating out meals.

Ahhh...

Finally, a Chinese restaurant -that's not a national chain- which looks good. And, with really great food, too!!

This is the Chinese restaurant in Atlanta according to the local Chinese. Only thing is, none of the papers in town will ever know it unless they sent food writers who can read and order in Chinese. For some bizarre reason, this is one of those places with two menus. One in English with standard Chinese take-out staples and one in Chinese with really, really, good stuff.

Try anyway to order the diced fish with pine-nuts or the shredded pork with bamboo shoots. Yum!

Redecorated! Great food!!

They have recently redone the restaurant and it is now one of the nicer chinese restaurants that I have been to. There is a glass wall that allows diners to watch the cooks prepare the food. They offer american style and authentic style chinese cuisine. The servers messed up on a couple orders, but we did have a group of 8. The servers were very friendly. And by the way, the food is delicious!!
