I wish there was an option of leaving a negative review. This office charged me close to $600 and then proceeded to make a several tens of thousands of dollars mistake preparing my fathers estate taxes. I specifically asked for someone proficient with Estates and Trusts when I made my appointment and was put with someone who wouldn't know how to handle an estate if his life depended on it. I KNEW something was off when we were told we were getting a massive refund instead of paying the taxes that I was positive were due. I expressed my concern SEVERAL times and was told it was correct. I was also assured that no state taxes needed to be filed at all. After spending several days reading the tax codes myself, I called the office to have a supervisor review it to make sure it was correct and was told the only appointment that they had was AFTER the tax deadline. After indicating I would be retaining an attorney, they miraculously found another office (45 minutes away) that could see me, an hour before the post office closed on tax day. After having the other (AMAZING and POLITE) office fix and file an amended return, I went back to the Ashland VA office to have a refund of my fees processed (per their website 100% accuracy guarantee) and they very guy who screwed up my taxes informs me that he stood by his work (that was $70K WRONG) and an office manager would be contacting me but she had been too busy for the past 5 hours to return my call. As of this posting, that call STILL has not been returned. What kind of company opens their clients up to fees and penalties AND FRAUDULENTLY adding on deductions that were not allowable to the tune of $70K and then charges you $600 for your trouble? The branch that fixed the returns for me actually waived their fees because the return was so badly prepared at the other branch. DO NOT GO TO THIS BRANCH!!! I have used H&R Block several times over the years and have never had any issue, but this branch takes the cake, screws the pooch and then makes you pay for it as well.
