Antique Shoppers: Caveat Emptor (Let the Buyer Beware)

The fact is, the owners are not kind. The other DexKnows review is correct. It happened to me too - an expert verified that their item i wanted to buy was in fact a reproduction, and they were selling it as original. I proved it was a reproduction, still willing to buy it at a repro price, and their attitude changed from nice to nasty. Looks like a nice place to shop...just be very careful in your purchase, and don't take their word on the authenticity of their merchandise.

Buyer Beware, Our experience with this shop owner was not good. We attempted to buy a light fixture from them they identified as a Handel (a desirable maker from the early 1900 s) and priced accordingly. We did some research and consulting with knowledgable lighting folks mainly because we liked the fixture and were wanting to know more about the maker. Both experts pointed out tell tale characteristics that would eliminate it as a Handel. We were polite and nonconfrontational in our corespondence and asked them to cancel the sale. Their response was nasty, accusatory and threatening. My conclusion is that these folks can be very unprofessional and are not dependable when it comes to knowledge and expertise. Ethics.......I just don t know, gotta wonder.

Great hours- convenient for all. Real antiques at discounted prices in a clean store, what more can you ask for? Down home, friendly employees that know their stuff about antiques, are always willing to assist you and will negotiate fair deals. This place is a must visit the next time you are in Annapolis.
