- General Info
- The Museum was founded in 1989 by two University of Alaska professors as the State’s only museum solely dedicated to natural history. Originally located in a garage in Eagle River, the Museum moved to its own 12,000 square-foot facility in Mountain View in 2003. The Museum exhibitions focus on Alaska geology, biology, ecology, archeology, and human adaptations. We inspire, through educational exhibits and programs, a better understanding and appreciation of the natural world, the sciences, and ourselves. The Museum was founded in 1989 by two University of Alaska professors as the State’s only museum solely dedicated to natural history.
