The health care system is a provider of HIV and hepatitis C care services in the United States. It also offers a range of special programs to help homeless veterans and provides medical treatment for physical and psychiatric disorders. In addition, the system offers long-term sheltered transitional assistance and case management and rehabilitative services. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs maintains a presence in Albany, N.Y.
