Southwest Middle School, located in Albert Lea, Minn., provides academic education to students in grades seven and eight. The school enrolls more than 550 students and is a part of Albert Lea Schools. The school s curriculum includes English, history, foreign languages, math, science, social studies, and family and consumer science. It also provides various courses in industrial technology that include computer-aided designing, automotive designing, woodworking and video production. The school has a library and media center that provides a large collection of curriculum books, research material, electronic database, Grolier s encyclopedia, accelerated reader program and access to the Internet. The middle school also offers physical, health and special education. Additionally, the school organizes various extracurricular activities, such as art, music, dance and field trips. It also offers counseling and student support services.
