Established in 1939, Western Turnpike Rescue Squad (WTRS) is a basic life support ambulance service, certified by New York State. Based in Guilderland, N.Y., the company provides around the clock emergency services to the McKownville, Westmere, Guilderland, North Bethlehem and Fort Hunter fire districts in the Town of Guilderland. Western Turnpike Rescue Squad (WTRS) operates an in-house training center, which offers courses, including frequently holding continuing educational, EMT-basic, EMT-basic refresher, and core content courses. Western Turnpike Rescue Squad (WTRS) is a certified American Heart Association Training Center. The company provides courses to individuals or companies upon request.
