I took my car to Queens Village Diesel (QVD) on 08/20/15 for routine maintenance work (i.e. coolant/fuel filter changes) and again on 09/25/15 for a coolant leak problem.

“Robert Diehl” who is the owner/operator of QVD indicated (on both dates) that my car could not be removed from the shop’s work bay area due to ignition start-up failures. I experienced no start-up failures with my auto before taking it to QVD (on both dates) and the QVD mechanics were able to drive the auto into the work bay area with no start-up failures (again on both dates). It stands to reason that I would have requested that QVD repair any start-up failure related problems if I experienced any such problems prior to taking my car to their shop especially considering the severity of these problems.

I was charged $219.90 (for replacing a distributor coil) and $143.67 (for replacing an ignition module) which were supposedly the parts that caused the questionable start-up problems on 08/20/15 and 09/25/15 respectively. Mr. Diehl commented that it’s a good thing (especially for him) that these problems occurred while the car was sitting in the work bay area of an auto repair shop instead of occurring while I’m driving on the road.

It raises a great deal of suspicion when start-up failures suddenly appear while the associated automobile is sitting in the work bay area of an auto repair shop especially when that shop stands to financially profit from such failures. I believe that these problems were non-existent or deliberately created in order to generate additional charges.

A zero-star rating would be more appropriate for this shop based on my experiences with their practices but unfortunately one-star is the lowest rating that can be specified for a business. I have no trust for Mr. Diehl and I will definitely not be doing any more business with QVD.

My New Auto Repair Shop

The people at QV Diesel are courteous and professional. I received quick service, a fair price, and the job was done correctly (coolant leak, new belt, inspection). I was taking my car to Bob's Auto in Flushing for 15 years until they closed down. I am very pleased with QV Diesel and will recommend it to my family and friends.
