The doctor is the most greedy and ignorant person I have ever met. Do not take your animals here. He does not treat them with kindness and he only cares about money. I have seen the way he handles animals behind closed doors and it is abuse. I have seen him treat not only the animals but the employees and customers with abuse as well. The hospital is filthy and unsanitary. For you and your pets safety. DO NOT GO HERE.

For the health and safety of you animal, do not go here. My mom and I took out 7 year old Weimaraner for an emergency visit to Dr. Shreves because my dog began to act strange, she was no longer eating, she was having muscle tremors and she had fallen down the stairs. Which is very unlike our Gertie (my dog). When we showed up to the office we filled out the paperwork and were put into the back room. The Dr came in and from the moment he stepped in the room he made us aware we were an inconvenience to him and his office staff. He asked my mom was what going on and she explained to him our dog wasn't acting herself, she wasn't eating, had fallen down the flight of steps.. etc. He gives a quick answer followed by an attitude and says get her on the scale. He peeks in her eyes and into her one ear.. he couldn't make the trip around the table to check the other one. He says alright we will run blood work, not once did he feel her body or check her legs as to why they gave out on the steps. He takes the blood and I ask him why hes being so rude to us and before I got the words out of my mouth the large man was in my 5'2 face. Telling me that I am not a dr that he is and tells me im a know-it-all. Being a concerned owner/sister to my dog of course im going to have questions to ask.. that's wrong in his office apparently. So after a long and drawn out argument which lead to him saying hes going to CALL THE COPS on me? for what reason? Trying to get some help with my sick dog. A day goes by and we call to find out the results of the blood work.... they threw it away! They threw my dogs blood test that we PAID for away. We have now taken our dog to Ironstone Animal Hospital.. the dr at this practice took one look at my dog and said lets get an xray.... My 7 year old weimaraner has Lung Cancer.. My dog is dying. This man at Pottsgrove would have let my dog suffer to her death.. unable to get her breath, falling down steps, trembling... For the sake of your animals life I beg that you DO NOT go to Pottsgrove Animal Hospital. The Dr from Ironstone was appalled that Dr. Shreves could not see the pain and suffering our poor Gertie was in. Gertie was given a month to live.. Dr. Shreves should have no right to be a practicing veterinarian.

BEWARE!! DO NOT trust this man with the health of your animal. He does not care for your pet at all, only your money! My dog was very sick, unable to move or eat and he could have cared less. The lack of compassion and understanding that he had for not only my pet but myself was astounding. This man is a pure monster and should not have legal right to care for your pet. He will only do harm to your pet and your piece of mind. He has screamed in my face and belittled me. He thinks because he has a DR in front of his name hes entitled to say or act anyway he wants. The office staff is very rude and inconsiderate. His office is dirty and not well kept. My overall experience was a NIGHTMARE!

I am not surprised by the other 2 reviews I just read. I too was a patient here and had to call for an emergency visit for my dog. Wow....he was rude and downright mean! I don't understand how he is still in business! He has a horrible bedside manner. He also have me a quote for the treatment and I went somewhere else and got the same treatment done for half the price he wanted to charge me! I would never recommend Dr. Shreves to anyone! Do yourself a favor and find another vet that is competent and pleasant!

The vet at Pottsgrove animal hospital is rude, cocky, obnoxious, ignorant. He had no bedside manner and jacked his prices up knowing by the time of day we had no other choices. If you love your pet do not take them to this facility. He should be shut down.

This animal hospital has the best staff. They are caring and really give that extra special touch with your pet and the clients. My dogs are very comfortable with the doctor and any procedure he has to do with them. I would recommend this hospital to everyone. They also do not try to clean out your pocketbook, they are very reasonable. John Cione

Have been going to Pottsgrove vet for years until we had an emergency with our cat. His leg was chewed up and part of the bone was exposed. I called to have the vet look at him but was told by the office that he was too busy.
I haven't been back since. We had someone else look at our cat even though they were busy too.
I felt that the office was very unprofessional.
