Clair M Carmen, MD, FACS- Breast Care Specialist, PC Is the first fellowship trained breast surgeon in the area. She earned her medical degree, magna cum laude, at Texas A&M in College Station,TX, in 1980 after receiving her bachelor's degree in biology at Texas A&M IN 1976. Dr. Carmen completed her residency program at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk VA, in 1990 where she also served as chief resident in general surgery. She went on to complete a breast fellowship at Faulkner Breast Centre-Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, in 1991 and a reconstructive breast fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1992. Dr. Carmen is an accomplished surgeon whose expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases both benign ad cancerous as well as breast reduction procedures. She focuses on the overall management of care with her patients. Dr. Carmen collaborates with patient families to create tailored and comprehensive plans designed to optimize quality of life and healthy living. Dr. Carmen is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of many professional associations including the American Medical Women's Association, The National Cancer Instutite Information Associate Program, The Medical Society of Virginia, AMPAC-Medical Society of Virginia, he National Breast Cancer Coalition, The Association of Women's Surgeons and The American Society of Breast Disease.
