While attending law school, Mackenzie was a member of the mock trial team that participated in the National American Association of Justice’s Trial Advocacy Competition. She also gained valuable trial experience at the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office. During her two semesters as an intern, she sought resolutions for misdemeanor traffic and domestic issues through plea negotiations, bench trials, and jury trials. She spent a semester working for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Legal Department and a summer clerking at Hite, Fanning & Honeyman L.L.P.
