- Medical Weight LossThe ideal candidate for liposuction is a person in good health who has pockets of fat that he or she has been unable to eliminate through diet and exercise. This person desires sculpting of the body rather than weight loss. The best candidate has skin that is still firm and elastic. About half of those having liposuction are middle aged.
- GlaucomaHealthy adult men and women who have drooping of the upper lids and/or bulging or depression beneath the lower lids can be excellent candidates for this elective procedure. For patients whose vision is negatively affected by drooping of the upper lids, Dr. Wolf will recommend a special eye test. If you fail that eye test, it’s possible that your health insurance may cover the costs of your eyelid lift. Patients with thyroid problems, dry eye, high blood pressure, diabetes, detached retina, glaucoma or other health problems should consult with an ophthalmologist about eligibility for a blepharoplasty.

- UltrasoundYour options include endovenous laser ablation, medical phlebectomy, ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, visually guided sclerotherapy, external laser and intense pulsed light. After receiving a precision mapping of the superficial venous system the specific treatment plan can be put in place. All of these treatments are performed outpatient and require no intravenous medications. Most patients can return to work the next day.
- BotoxBOTOX ® is the well known trade name for botulinum toxin type A. This product is injected into the muscle and provides a paralysis that is localized. By weakening the muscle the creases or wrinkles associated with the muscle activity are decreased. The most common areas of treatment are horizontal forehead lines, corrugator creases between the eyes and the classic crows feet present lateral to the eye. There is high patient satisfaction with these treatments and there are minimal negative side effects.
- Brow LiftHealthy men and women who are concerned about sagging brows and deep wrinkles in the forehead are generally good candidates for a brow lift.
- Eyelid SurgeryRecovery from eyelid surgery in Dayton is usually very easy. Pain is minimal and easily treated with ice packs. Some patients find that sitting up in a recliner to sleep the first couple of nights keeps swelling to a minimum. If you wear contact lenses, you’ll avoid that for the first two weeks, during which time your eyes may be sensitive to light and wind, and overly sensitive to your lenses. Some patients have eyelid swelling or double or blurred vision for a few days, but this is rare.

- Breast ReconstructionAlloDerm ® is a tissue matrix product that becomes part of the body in the area where it’s inserted. It’s often used for scar repair, breast reconstruction, breast implant revision and other plastic surgery procedures that need supportive tissue. A major advantage of AlloDerm® is that it is totally soft and non-detectable. It can be used to plump nasolabial folds (lines between nose and lips), and a major application of this product is in lip augmentation.

- Face LiftA facelift is an elective cosmetic procedure performed by Dayton cosmetic surgeon Dr. Raymond Wolf to tighten the skin and underlying facial structure (muscle & tissues) for a more youthful appearance. Rather than a pulled appearance, a beautiful face lift shows a youthful contour, with 10-15 years removed from the patient’s appearance!
- Neck LiftDayton neck lift patients find that recovery from a neck lift procedure involves a feeling of “tightness” in the neck rather than actual pain. Over-the-counter medications, such as Tylenol, generally are adequate to control discomfort. You will have bruising in the treated areas, which will subside in a week or two. You can aid in healing by avoiding strenuous activities which might tighten the neck, such as weight lifting, or even lifting heavy items such as grocery bags full of groceries, small children, etc. Smokers must stop smoking a minimum of two weeks prior to neck lift surgery and refrain from smoking a minimum of six weeks afterwards to avoid complications from tobacco, which robs the body of oxygen and inhibits healing.
- BlepharoplastyBlepharoplasty, also known as eyelid rejuvenation or eyelid lift, is an elective cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids to rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes.
- AbdominoplastyAdult men and women who cannot fully tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall with normal exercise, and/or who have sagging or extremely loose abdominal wall skin due to weight gain and loss cycles or normal aging, are usually good candidates for a tummy tuck, as are women who have experienced past pregnancies. For women, it’s important that family building is completed, as pregnancy after abdominoplasty will undo all the repairs accomplished.
- Lip Augmentation
- Body ContouringLaser Liposuction and Laser-Assisted Liposuction utilizes laser waves to destroy fat cells. This procedure has become the industry standard in cosmetic surgery for the removal of unwanted fatty tissue. It removes excess fat deposits and shapes the body to improve and smooth the appearance of irregular body shapes. This process is often referred to as body contouring. This result is achieved using a vacuum-suction cannula (hollow pen-like instrument) or an ultrasonic probe. When compared with traditional liposuction, laser liposuction is safer, minimally invasive, allows for shorter recovery times and vastly improves skin tightening. Approved in October, 2006, by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), lower-level laser therapy has been shown to increase penetration as internal application of laser energy may be the most effective method to reduce unwanted fat deposits.
- Laser ResurfacingCO2 laser resurfacing is the gold standard for wrinkle improvement. The laser is applied to the skin and multiple layers of skin are removed, providing immediate skin tightening, removal of fine and deeper wrinkles, and an improvement of skin texture. The downside is that CO2 laser treatments require a recovery time of approximately one week. Most of our Dayton laser resurfacing patients accept this downtime period because the improvement in their skin is so dramatic, particularly under the eyes or on the upper lip. An alternative to all-over CO2 lasering is to have CO2 performed around the eyes and lips and to have a chemical peel on the rest of the face, neck and décolleté.

- Forehead LiftA brow lift is an elective, outpatient, cosmetic surgery procedure that eliminates the deepest wrinkles in the forehead while simultaneously lifting the brows back to their original, higher position. It is sometimes called a forehead lift or an eyebrow lift. This procedure corrects the sagging and deep wrinkling in the forehead while lifting the eyebrows and upper eyelids. It shouldn’t be confused with an eyelid lift, called a blepharoplasty, which treats the upper and lower eyelids but not the brow or forehead.
- Ulcer70% of the leg ulcers are due to venous problems. The phlebology approach is to treat the underlying reflux which oftentimes comes from perforator vein incompetence. We see many patients who have undergone hyperbaric oxygen treatment or topical applications that are ultimately cured with proper vein treatment.
- LesionsPigmented skin lesions can be removed cosmetically for both cosmetic and medical reasons. A classic shave biopsy removes the area and the specimen is sent to pathology. The CO2 laser is then used to contour the edges of the biopsy site for superior healing and cosmetic appeal.
- Chemical PeelsChemical peels may be as light as a Jessner peel, which is in entry-level peel that can be performed on a monthly basis. The highest strength peel is a Jessner peel combined with trichloracetic acid 35%. This peel enters the mid-dermal layer and is the deepest peel that can be performed safely. Other peel options are trichloracetic acid (TCA) of 20, 25 and 30%. The higher strength peels of 30 and 35% usually require the addition of medications to provide comfort during the peel.
