      General Info
      My name is Michelle but everyone calls me Shelly, and I can't wait to be your photographer! Making people laugh and smile for my camera is my job, and I take it very seriously. I'm not afraid to look a little ridiculous to get the perfect shot. I live to capture life's little moments, big moments, and everyday details. My love of photography started when I was a young child in a small town in West Virginia right on the Ohio River. My grandmother would let me hold her 35mm Canon Compact. It had automatic advance and rewind it was a big deal. I used to love to look through the view finder, compose shots and pretend to press the shutter button, though since it was film I rarely got to "waste" any pictures (if only she could see me now). That camera was one of her most prized possessions, and she only got it out on special occasions. Back then I thought she was protective of it because it was an expensive device and a present from Grandpa, but she taught me that it was so priceless to her because it was what she used to capture memories: her family was in that camera. Since then I've got involved with photography every chance I could. I was almost tackled by high school football players while I took pictures of their games from the sidelines, and then I spent hours in my high school's darkroom processing the film and printing pictures for the yearbook and newspaper. Around then I transitioned to digital photographs, and the first digital cameras I used saved the images on floppies. In college, I took three independent studies on photography and photo editing on top of a full graphic design course load, and I was often awake all night to meet a deadline and then shooting an assignment the next morning.After graduating with a bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2007, I moved to Columbus, Ohio, where I lived and worked as a graphic designer and photographer happily for five years. Last year I moved to Virginia Beach with my husband, and I love being so close to the ocean and other breathtaking backdrops here in Virginia Beach. Photography isn't just a career for me, it's a passion: a living art and my whole way of life. I find beauty in all things, and I want to record as much of it as possible. I find my inspiration in the individuality of people, and I love capturing their inner personalities. I love portrait shooting because during these private sessions I get to really see the subjects, the love they have for their families, and the uniqueness of their relationships. It is an honor to be the one to record these memories and to share those special moments in time.Photography is the witness to our lives. Its a way to communicate, to show love, to record memories for us and future generations. Ultimately, our pictures become a legacy, a record of our lives.       I am located in Virginia Beach but am available for travel. For destination weddings or portrait sessions outside of the Hampton roads area. Please message me for an estimate. I have a military dependent’s ID and am available for portrait sessions on any military base. Portrait packages begin at $275 and include the session time and prints. Additional prints. Photo books. Digital negatives. And print releases are available a la carte. Deployment homecoming packages begin AT $325. This package includes waiting for your loved one and capturing those precious moments when you first are reunited as well as a quick portrait session after. Wedding packages begin at $1.525. All wedding packages include two photographers. Prints, a photo book. And digital negatives.
