Musical Instruments
Dallas Piano Warehouse & Showroom
9292 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75243
972 231-4607
Tickle the ivories of Bosendorfer, Kawai, Roland, Schimmel, Steinway, Technics, Young Chang and more in pianos and keyboards. In fact, they are said to be the largest Young Chang dealer in the country. But what if you wanted to "Play It Again, Sam?" Check out their used pianos (and there were at least 20 to choose from). If you're a budding Beethoven, you will find your place at Dallas Piano Warehouse. But it was the player pianos that really caught our ears. What fun!
Guitar Center
4519 LBJ Freeway, Farmers Branch, TX 75244
972 960-0011
Guitar Center has evolved into a multi-faceted music store where musicians connect both locally and nationwide. It's also the country's largest retailer of musical instruments at the guaranteed lowest price. Every music specialty is represented-keyboards, MIDI peripherals, music software, pro audio recording equipment, dance music gear, drums, accessories, and, even vintage instruments can be found. Ask a pro where to go and generally it's the above (who is above all others)!
Jack Whitby Piano
8326 Scyene Road, Dallas, TX 75227
214 381-9571
The piano scene starts and ends on Scyene, however you pronounce it. This three-generational scion of the piano business has the corner on pianos’ late model used pianos in pristine condition. Texas pianists like them big and Jack Whitby can supply them in a grand way. Since the early '70s, they have maintained an inventory of over 30 pre-owned grand and upright Kawai and Yamaha pianos. They also have Baldwin, Mason & Hamlin, Pearl River, Samick and Steinway.
Lone Star Percussion
10611 Control Place Drive, Dallas, TX 75238
214 340-0835
This is where a star can be born, if drums are the search object. In fact, consider this a drummer's paradise for marching or concert bands, rock or reggae aspirants. There are over 6,000 items in stock and the leader of the band is none other than the famed Bobby Roundtree. Drums, snares, quads, cymbals, mallets, drum heads, sticks, well, if you're a drummer, here is where it's at! If you can't beat 'em, try shopping at Lone Star Percussion instead; that way, you won't miss a beat! Skin up to 40 percent off across the board and have a bang up day!
Piano Gallery
13520 Inwood, Dallas, TX 75244
972 490-5397
Baldwin, Kawai, Nordiska, Petrof, Weinbach, Yamaha and others were touted as being all half priced---all refurbished to a fine and upright condition. You can expect prices to be discounted, but how much, nobody knows yet. No trade-ins, but credit cards and financing are acceptable. They prefer serious buyers who don't hem and haw about their intentions. No digital or electric keyboards, folks. They are Dallas' Premier Piano Showcase. Now that has a nice sound to it.
Richard's Band Instrument & Repair
510 Elm Street, Waco, TX 76704
972 446-4081
Richard's Band Instrument & Repair is a great place to strike up the band, if your children are looking to blow their own horn. But before you shell out a lot of cash for some brass, think again. Save on those expensive instruments and buy them pre-blown. Just swing by, if indeed, your brass is sounding crass and you're ready to donate it to the dump. All instruments sold are guaranteed to be back to making sweet music in no time at all.
Speir Music/Roomscapes (aka Sound System Installations)
1331 E. Highway 80 E., Mesquite, TX 75150
972 272-1700
Music started blaring out of Speir's Music Store in 1962 and has been resoundingly loud and clear ever since. Cutting to the heart of the music industry, they offer band instruments, guitars, keyboards, percussions and amplifiers at very competitive prices. All under one roof, you'll find all the instruments, repairs and a policy of 90 days same as cash. Now, where else can you find more than 1,000 guitars with this helpful financing incentive? Take note. The four S's make them a logical choice to escape to: service, sales, selection and Speir's.
Sword's Music Co.
4300 E. Lancaster Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76103
817 536-8742
Let's cut to the quick. First, ask for Anthony or Dave (they're always there) and let them lead the way. Since 1969, Sword's has been helping slash high prices on all band and orchestra instruments to beat the band. If your child is in the band, have all of their instruments serviced and overhauled here. Jump on the bandwagon and show them a price that was advertised elsewhere, and they'll match it. Plain and simple.
