- X-raysWorking directly with a grade school or through the Orange County Dental Society, the doctors participate with various grade school screenings. School screenings are completed without the aid of adequate light, dental X-rays and proper instrumentation, but can be useful in finding children who have a high tendency for tooth decay and large cavities. Believe it or not, children miss more time from school for dental related issues than for any other reason!
- Teeth CleaningAlso known as oral prophylaxis or “prophy”, this procedure involves scaling of tooth surfaces to remove hard calculus or “tartar” that has accumulated, followed by a soft rubber cup cleaning to remove soft plaque. Plaque builds up on a daily basis and while one’s daily effort to clean the teeth are good, the supportive measures that dentists perform during professional dental cleaning is going to ensure the complete maintenance of one’s oral health condition.
- Fluoride TreatmentAt Tustin Pediatric Dentistry, we are able to provide all of the routine dental care services that your child might need. We recommend that you bring your baby in for his first visit before his first birthday. At checkups, we do regular cleanings to remove plaque and tartar. We recommend that everyone have a checkup and cleaning every six months. We usually do fluoride treatments along with routine cleanings in order to strengthen the teeth.
- Dental SealantsWe can also apply dental sealants. Sealants are a liquid that is painted on to the grooves in the teeth. The sealant is then cured using a special wand-like device. Once hardened, the sealant protects the teeth from cavities.

- CrownsThe specialties in dentistry are Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics (braces), Pathology, Prosthodontics (crowns and bridges), Endodontics (root canals), Periodontics (gum disease) and Oral Surgery. When a dentist is passionate about children and is in the top third of his or her dental school class, they may make the decision to seek advanced education lasting a minimum of 2 years and focus their practice on the diagnosis, prevention, correction and treatment of dental problems of younger individuals.

- Root Canal Treatment
- Deep CleaningA dental cleaning procedure is prescribed every six months or twice a year. For as short as 15 minutes to an hour, a surface or deep cleaning procedure may be performed and this is concluded by a brushing and polishing. With a prophy paste and small brush, the surface is cleaned just as one would during a normal brushing technique, and the surface is given an even more impressive shine, the teeth are polished with a rubber cup using dental pumice.

- OrthodonticsOrthodontics is the specific discipline in Dentistry that governs all principles used in the diagnosis, prevention, correction and treatment of all issues relating to the arrangement, alignment and function of the teeth. The ideal bite is characterized by a number of factors, but most importantly the ideal occlusion occurs when the upper and lower teeth are positioned to function harmoniously with the opposing teeth. Discrepancies from the “ideal” bite may be either functional problems or aesthetic problems. Correction of functional discrepancies in the bite is considered to be a higher priority than discrepancies that are mostly aesthetic in nature.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsIn addition to routine dental services, we also provide orthodontic services. The purpose of orthodontic treatment is to repair any discrepancy in the bite. When the teeth do not align properly, it can result in functional problems as well as aesthetic concerns. We can address these concerns by applying braces and other dental appliances. In addition to traditional braces, we also offer Invisalign removable braces.
- BracesBasically, orthodontics is the art of moving teeth into a better functional and/or aesthetic position in the mouth. This process may involve only a single tooth to be moved or it may involve complete braces on all upper and lower teeth. Tooth movement can occur using removable appliances or fixed appliances attached to the teeth. The number of teeth to be moved and the type of appliances used to gain an ideal bite can only be determined after records are taken and the dentist has formulated a treatment plan sequence.
