- The Brevard County Parks Department manages extensive recreational and leisure activity resources in Brevard County, Fla. Brevard County is a popular tourism site with points of interest, including Port Canaveral, the Space Coast Stadium, Patrick Air Force Base and the Kennedy Space Center, with many parks well suited for space shuttle launch viewing. Residents and tourists find that Brevard County parks offer a rich opportunity for leisure activity and environmental education. Of the many parks and facilities available throughout the county, the department manages 108 parks, three campgrounds, three golf courses, six nature centers, more than 40 beach access sites, 13 school athletic sites and more than 17,000 acres of environmentally endangered lands sanctuaries and conservation areas. The department oversees nearly two dozen boat launches that offer boaters freshwater, lagoon and ocean fishing opportunities. Brevard County Parks and Recreation is a local government agency in east-central Florida.
