The Gulf Coast Center is a medical and nursing care organization that provides mental health services to the residents of Galveston and Brazoria counties, Texas. Established in 1973, it offers mental retardation, substance use recovery and public transportation services to individuals and families. The organization s child and adolescent mental health services include crisis intervention, routine case management, respite care, and psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring. The Gulf Coast Center also provides treatment through individual, group and family therapies and offers drug prevention programs. In addition, it operates a transportation program called Connect Transit that caters to local transportation need of clients. The organization also offers a tenant-based rental assistance program that supports individuals suffering from mental illness to achieve economic independence. The Gulf Coast Center maintains one of its facilities in Texas City, Texas.
