I went here a few months ago, and had one of the worst experiences in my life.First off, I was paying out of pocket, and everything was WAY more expensive than I thought it would be. I had asked about the deals I'd seen in the newspaper, and they had assured me that those were the prices. Great! I can finally afford glasses/contacts! Nope. It was nearly double what I thought it was. But, I could afford it, and I didn't want to complain (I could afford it, and figured maybe it was prices with insurance. I don't know what I was thinking).I had ordered contact lenses, and they told me they would be in in seven days, and that they would call me. Seven days later, I had heard nothing, so I went in to visit. The lady at the front desk told me that whoever had told me when they would come in was wrong- it was seven to ten BUSINESS DAYS. Okay... I wasn't exactly happy, but mistakes happen. 2 weeks after that (3 weeks after ordering them), I still hadn't heard anything. So, I went in again. They had my contacts, hurray! But, they hadn't called me. The ladies at the front desk were rude, and told me I didn't have my voicemail set up, and they had tried to call me multiple times. I actually did, so I know they didn't call me. Or didn't have the ability to punch the right number into a phone (they had my correct number on file, I checked).AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS EVEN WORSE. They gave me a box of contacts. A very small box for a one year supply of 2 week contacts. I asked them if this was really a year supply? Without even double-checking, they just said 'yup have a great one'... At this point, I didn't trust them. So I went out to my car and opened the box, counting the number of lenses. Only 6 months worth. I go back in and let them know that had in fact not given my the full amount I paid for. The ladies at the front desk had the audacity to tell me that they were going to be nice, and not charge me for shipping the box that they didn't order. Thanks a lot, for doing what you were supposed to. I appreciate it.Two weeks later, and I get a phone call that my final box of contacts are in. Finally, I can be free of this hellish place! No. I wear my first pair for two weeks, no problems. My second pair, however, ended up getting cloudy. Within a week and a half, I was unable to see out of them and they were completely unusable. This happened again with the next pair. I called Eye Care Express, asking them what was wrong, and the lady had said maybe I was having issues with dry eyes, and to get eye drops. I thought about it, and realized I had been drinking right before my contacts would get cloudy- maybe drunk me wasn't blinking enough? I thought the problem had been solved! I used eye drops, and quit wearing contacts when I drank... But no. The next pair (and the 2 pairs since then) have gotten cloudy, but only when my eyes water. So, I went in today, to ask them if maybe the contacts were expired. A few years ago, I wore some contacts of mine that were older, and they had gone cloudy when my eyes watered, so I wondered if my current ones were old. The lady at the desk told me that they weren't expired, and they couldn't do anything without me seeing the doctor. Oh HELL NO. Honestly, had I had just had 3 different bad experiences with them, I would have happily seen the doctor to see what was up. But at this point, there's no way at all that I'm going to give that place another penny. I guess I'm stuck going to another doctor to see if they can fix whatever issues Eye Care Express made with getting me my contacts.

I have my ups and downs with this place. First of all you need to realize with the ad, like all other places, can seem misleading but it not wrong. If the add says get a pair of glasses starting at $99 a pair, that's the cheapest smallest pair they have, it's not a dollar tree. Second problem I had to wait for my lenses to arrive once and be cut for my frames. I was told a few days and they would be ready; however, some issues came up and they said they would call me. A week later I remembered the glasses and call and they said they had been ready for awhile. Other than those issues I've had great issues and a lot of help. Last time I went into their facility I had to get a lot of warranty exchange and was given a few discounts for it all. They are great and really helpful.

Poor service. Ordered my contacts on July 31st. I was told they would be available for pick up in a few days. I went buy a few days later and they just ordered them. It's now Aug 15 and I called them this morning. They have been there since the 9th but no one bother to call me. I won't be going back.

I have been to other local "eye" places in Terre Haute and have never been as satisfied with Eye Care Express. The doctor was very sweet with my children, being that my baby was not at all interested in staying in her stroller. The staff was helpful and helped me figure out the best deal with my insurance. I'm a bit reluctant about my 6 yr old needing glasses like they said, but we'll see if it makes a difference for her. Here is atop: call ahead and make an appointment. You can get in the same day if you call early, yes they take walk-ins, but you run the risk of waiting longer.

I went in today for the special ran in a local paper. What was supposed to be two pair for $59 cost me $238. Not exactly a good deal. I should've went elsewhere.

Don't be fooled by their coupons. I went in for the 2 pair of progressive lens glasses for $99 and the only frames available for that were for Children. I ended up having to use the BOGO deal and it cost me $400. I could have gone to my regular eye Dr for the same price and felt more comfortable.

My child has spina bifida, and Dr. Burch (one of the optometrists) has had training in pediatrics; he gave my child tests to determine whether he/she needed to see a specialist. He was very understanding and asked my child questions directly. Also, we have a lot of medical bills, so the low prices are important to us. I'd recommend this business to anyone concerned about their child's vision.

I went in with a friend for the buy a pair, share a pair deal with 2 free eye exams. Sounds good, right? Nowhere on the flier did it also mention that you need to get there at least 3 hours before they close, as we were turned away twice even though we showed up 2 hrs before closing! Not only that, but a staff member was extremely condescending, rude, and incompent. She told both of us we had astigmatisms, although the eye doctor told us we didn't and that "she needs to stop telling the patients that because she doesn't know what she's talking about". When she asked if everything went ok, I told her that we didn't have astigmatisms, and instead of apolegizing, she said- very sarcastically, "WILL DO!"...I then reported her behavior to the store manager, who was very professional and gave me my glasses for the price of the frames. I will be reporting the rude staff member to the head office, and if nothing is done to correct her behavior, I will take it further.Avoid the headache.

I tried to change the prior review - no avail so I'm adding this. I had previously called Eye Express and left messages for the manager but had not received a call back. I called again to get the headquarters address and the manager answered. She said she would replace the one lense for $51 (with insurance it was to be 20% of cost) which was a lot less than previously quoted. I'm not real pleased but that at least showed an effort on their part. Also, there are very few oticians anywhere that I"ve run into that know how to adjust glasses for me.
