A pool vacuum is a very simple and efficient tool to clean out your swimming pool in a short period of time. There are many materials that can get into your pool and lessen it's overall appeal, including algae organisms, mold, leaves, and grass clippings. Cleaning your pool of these items is essential to keeping your pool beautiful and inviting, and pool vacuums can help.

What are Pool Vacuums?

Pool vacuums are essentially just what they sound like- vacuum cleaners for your pool that use suction to pick up dirt. Pool vacuums help offset the use of a sometimes ineffective skimmer. Pool vacuums glide along the surface of your pool, pulling in water and, at the same time, sucking in dead insects, leaves and other debris.

These objects and the water are then circulated into the skimmer via a nozzle, and, in the skimmer, the unwanted objects are filtered out. The water is then circulated back into the pool.

A lot of pool vacuums also come equipped with heads that have bristle-like nozzles on their ends. These heads are designed to be run softly across the pool's liner to clean the surface. The pool's liner can be tarnished from certain chemicals in the water and vacuuming the liner regularly can minimize this damage. The vacuum's bristled end is intended to be dragged across the stain on the liner with mild force to ensure the stain will be taken off, but at the same time it is essential not to use enough strength to damage or rip through the liner of your pool. These bristles are not very tough, but they are designed to be used on liners, so even if you own a pool with a very old liner, you need not worry about damaging it, just as long as you're not applying an unnecessary amount of force.

Many pool vacuums can also be used to clean out a pool's filter system. Most water pumps in pools are equipped with baskets that are used to catch any loose materials such as grass or leaves and prevent them being recirculated back into your pool's water. The pump's filter can be cleansed with a vacuum attachment available on some pool vacuums that can suck up even the tiniest pieces of unwanted material out of your filter.

Pool vacuums help yo save time by allowing you to clean your pool in as little as 15 minutes. Whether you're searching for an alternate way to rid yourself of cleaning the pool by hand with a skimmer, or a way to clean the pool's filter, pool vacuums are a great investment and allow to clean your pools with ease.
