When ordering a waste removal service, it can be a costly endeavor. For this reason, it’s important to get all of the information you can ahead of time. Here are some questions to keep in mind while requesting services.

Questions for Waste Removal

  1. What services do you provide? Some companies remove junk in addition to other services such as dumpster rentals or clean-up services. Other companies are so specific in what they do, you will want to make sure they can help with what you need.
  2. How much do your charge for waste removal? Do you charge by the load or by the hour? Do you have any special promotions going on? Finding this out will help you save money by either compacting the junk or making it easier for the workers to pick up your junk.
  3. Is there any circumstance that would interrupt your waste removal service? Will I get advanced notice?
  4. Are there any items that you can’t pick up? How should I prepare the junk and living space before the workers arrive? Certain toxic items require special treatment that some junk hauling companies may have to leave behind. These may include electronics, appliances, car parts and toxic substances such as paint or oil.
  5. Will you clean up the floor along the waste as well as remove the waste?
  6. Will your waste removal company transport garbage down stairs? If you live in a high-level apartment, there may be a surcharge for the additional stairs. There also may be logistical issues that can get in the way of their service.
  7. What is your service area?
  8. Where does the junk go? Will any of the items be recycled? Some companies sort the junk and recycle or donate it as necessary. Ask ahead of time if this is important to you.
  9. Is there a limit as to how much waste removal you can do? A minimum? Most companies will have a minimum price for their services, even if you have a small load. For larger loads, let the company know so that they can accommodate you.
  10. Do you have any partner services that also can help with me with my spring cleaning/moving/remodeling/construction project?
