Waste disposal solutions are one of those necessary services of everyday life that don’t get much thought or attention. Most people spend little time considering options for waste disposal solutions, and just set up the simplest service available for their home or business. After it’s up and running, the only times they think about it again are when they pay the bill - or when the service doesn’t do its job properly.

Waste Disposal Solutions

Waste disposal is a complex thing that actually covers many areas. Residential waste disposal is one branch, and includes residential recycling in the form of curbside bins. Business waste is a different branch, with multiple facets inside of it such as food waste versus paper waste. Garden and organic waste, large waste such as rusted-out cars... well, the list goes on.

If you’re faced with a situation where you need a waste disposal service of any kind, you should be aware that there are more than likely a few options available to you. In all but the smallest of communities, there are usually multiple companies offering various types of disposal services, and which one you choose to work with will depend on your needs. It’s wise to comparison shop.

In general, there are three ways to deal with waste disposal.

  • Set up a regular service.

Once-a-week curbside pickup falls into this category; so does a bi-annual dumpster rental, or weekly pick-up of confidential papers from an office site. A regular service is one that comes on a regular basis at an agreed-upon time to collect and dispose of waste. Typically this requires a contract be signed between the company and customer, but some services offer pay-as-you-go monthly plans, too.
  • Call in the service as it’s needed.

This goes mainly for large waste disposal needs. For example, if you renovate your bathroom and have large pieces of drywall and wood that need to be taken away, you’d probably call for a dumpster, or for a waste collection service to come once the job is done and take away the remnants. If you own a business that needs paper pick-up, but you don’t generate much paper so you don’t need it regularly, you might simply call for disposal pick-up when the bins fill up. Even residential customers who live in rural areas and don’t generate much trash may just call when it’s time to collect.
  • Deliver it yourself.

You may simply want to deliver your waste to a location yourself, and then pay the pros that work there to do the disposal. This can apply to any type of waste disposal; basically you’re paying for the disposal itself, but saving yourself money on the transport. This option of the waste disposal solutions works best if you have the right vehicle for it, don’t generate much waste, and live relatively near to the disposal company’s drop site.
