Whether you want to “geo target” educational institutions near to you or you want to explore types of colleges and universities (e.g. community learning centers, four-year programs, accelerated/co-op ed programs), SuperPages provides exemplarily search tools and efficient customer service to make sense of your choices. In addition to using SuperPages, you can work with an independent college guidance counselor to sort through the thousands of American colleges and universities out there. Focus on what you want out of your education before you examine choices. Factors to consider include the cost of the programs, the time commitments associated with learning, the degree of specificity with which you want to pursue an academic subject, and the nature of your intended career path. Almost all accredited and respected colleges and universities now maintain flourishing web presences. However, searching a college's website and walking around on campus are two very different things. Once you've narrowed your field of application possibilities by reading statistics, talking to guidance counselors, searching through SuperPages, and isolating your wants and needs, you might plan a trip to tour some of your top schools. You may also schedule interviews with alumni or admissions officials at your various colleges and universities. Gather information in a timely manner and make sure to put all of your application materials together with time to spare. Most four-year colleges and universities will require applicants to submit personal essays, high school transcripts, teacher recommendations, financial aid data, and collage board (e. g. SAT and ACT) scores. You can also apply to multiple schools through what's known as the common application.
