Pisces is the twelfth sign of the zodiac and is the sun sign for those born between February 19th and March 20th. The symbol of Pisces is the fish. It is a mutable, water sign and Neptune is its ruler.

There are three birthstones for Pisces.

Jade – is a deep green, opaque stone that is found in China, New Zealand and Russia. In ancient Egypt and China, jade was used a talisman to promote good luck and strong bonds of friendship. It was also believed to protect the wearer from evil and promote a long life. In terms of health jade is said to protect the heart, kidneys, spleen and thyroid and to strengthen the body overall.

Amethyst – this blue to purple stone is found predominantly in Zambia and is said to have a number of mystical powers including the ability to enhance the wearer’s business prowess and to protect from wild animals. One of the world’s largest cut amethysts weighs in at 343 carats and can be seen at the National History Museum in London.

Aquamarine - this gem stone comes in a range of colors from pale aqua to deep blue. The deeper blue samples are more valuable. Aquamarine can be found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Russia. This stone has been popular since ancient times and was once believed to increase the wearer’s courage and foresight. It was also considered a healing stone that could treat anxiety, reduce the effects of poison and keep sailors safe from seasickness.
