Flu Information

Are you curious about natural antibiotics? Antibiotics have been used for many decades to fight bacterial infections. At the same time however, bacteria has evolved and has become resistant to many antibiotic drugs, so for some medical conditions, the dosage for antibiotic drugs has to be doubled in order to be effective. Instead of saturating the body with huge doses of drugs, many individuals are now resorting to healthier, more natural means to fight bacteria. The term natural antibiotics has been coined to refer to this natural alternative to antibiotic drugs.

Natural Antibiotics

Natural antibiotics are substances that are natural in origin and are known to have antibacterial properties. They include plant and herb extracts and minerals which are all potent substances to fight bacteria. Here is a list of the some of the most commonly used natural antibiotics:

  • Garlic

Garlic is very rich in antibacterial properties. It is believed by some to treat the common cold, flu, cough, and other infectious diseases. Some believe it can also cure minor throat and ear infections. The properties of garlic are very similar to penicillin and can kill even some of the resistant bacteria.
  • Criticidal

Criticidal is a substance found in grapefruit. Some believe is able to slow down the growth of bacteria and that it is an effective treatment for diaper rash.
  • Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that is often used to clean wounds. It is purported to prevent and heal skin sores, infections, and other skin conditions. It may also provide effective treatment for ringworms, hemorrhoids, nail fungus, athlete’s foot, and yeast infections.
  • Honey

Honey is also rich in antibacterial properties. It is said by some to be able to treat cuts, bites, and stings on the skin. Some think that honey is even comparable to other pharmaceutical drugs as it can fight Salmonella and other strains of bacteria. When taken with water (hot tea), some people believe it can relieve symptoms of asthma and other breathing-related conditions.
  • Colloidal Silver

Colloidal Silver is composed of fine silver particles that are dispersed in liquid. Its antibacterial properties are said to effectively disrupt the structures of many strains of bacteria.
  • Olive Leaf Extract

Olive leaves are also used for their natural and potent anti-viral and antibacterial properties. These are used to treat yeast and fungal infections, allergies, and fatigue. Some believe it can help cure common cold and flu and help regulate blood sugar and pressure.

It is very important to remember that these substances should not serve as a substitute for a doctor or specialist’s expert advice. Always discuss any home treatment plan with your doctor first. Seek as much information as you can before medicating yourself and make sure you understand that many of the claims about the natural antibiotics remain unproven.
