Every year, the druidic Cenarion Circle kicks off its Lunar Festival. Ostensibly, the Lunar Festival is a celebration of an ancient battle, in which the night elves and the tauren united with the earthen and the furbolgs to defeat the evil and insidious Burning Legion. Denizens of Azeroth, whether Alliance or Horde, are invited to take place in the festivities, which include food, song, dance, and fireworks. During the Lunar Festival, it is also said that the ancient heroes of old once again appear throughout the land, offering gifts to any who seek them out and honor them.

The start of the Lunar Festival coincides with the real life Chinese New Year, which typically occurs near the end of January or sometime during February. The Lunar Festival runs for three weeks, sometimes concurrently with Love Is in the Air.

Celebrating the Lunar Festival

All of the major capital cities, as well as the town of Nighthaven in Moonglade, celebrate the Lunar Festival in style, with elaborate decorations and plenty of fireworks. It’s quite common to see Lunar Festival revelers, bedecked in festive regalia, dancing in honor of their elders and ancestors.

During the Lunar Festival, adventurers are given the option of seeking the ancient elders who appear in different locations all over the world. By locating and paying homage to these heroes of old, adventurers can accumulate Coins of Ancestry, which can be redeemed for special Lunar Festival items.

On the final day of the Lunar Festival, the druids of Moonglade will host one last fireworks extravaganza over Lake Elune’ara.

Lunar Festival Quests

As with most seasonal events, there are a number of quests that are only available to adventurers during the Lunar Festival.

The Lunar Festival

Speak to any of the emissaries in the cities, and you’ll be directed to your city’s Harbinger. Speaking to him or her will increase your reputation with the Cenarion Circle and lead to...

Lunar Fireworks

The Harbinger instructs you to set off 8 small fireworks and 2 cluster fireworks. These fireworks can be purchased from a nearby vendor or constructed by an adventurer with the Engineering skill. If you do so, you’ll boost your reputation with the Cenarion Circle and be rewarded with a Lunar Festival Invitation, which can teleport you instantly to Moonglade. This opens the way to...

Valadar Starsong

You’re instructed to use your Lunar Festival Invitation to travel to Moonglade and speak to Valadar Starsong, a powerful druid in the town of Nighthaven. Valadar is a vendor, offering a number of Lunar Festival dresses and pant suits, as well as dumplings and fireworks in exchange for Coins of Ancestry. He will also give you the option of undertaking the very dangerous and difficult quest...

Elune’s Blessing

The demigod Omen was a wise and powerful being who once wandered primordial Kalimdor, offering guidance to hunters and gatherers. Unfortunately, during the ancient war against the Burning Crusade, Omen suffered wounds from the demonic forces that put him into a deep sleep and ultimately drove him mad. He turned against the druids of Moonglade, who called down the wrath of the moon to stun and blind Omen. Driven into the deep waters of Lake Elune’ara, Omen’s reign of terror was thought to be at an end. However, it seems that Omen is stirring once again, and a cry has gone out to the heroes of the land.

You will need to join with a group of like-minded adventurers if you want to confront Omen. First, you’ll need to use Cluster Rockets on the launchers along the southeastern shore of Lake Elune’ara. This will attract several Minions of Omen. Slay the minions and continue launching fireworks until Omen rises up from the lake.

In addition to his powerful physical attack, Omen frequently makes use of his Starfall ability, which causes massive continual damage to all folks within range. Fortunately, Omen is susceptible to Elune’s Candle, a magic wand sold by Valadar Starsong. Once Omen is defeated, everyone who participated will be rewarded with a Lunar Festival Fireworks Pack, 3 Solid Stones, and Elune’s Lantern (which can be used to transform Solid Stones into glowing Elune Stones). You’ll also receive Elune’s Blessing (a one-hour buff that boosts all of your stats by 10%).
