Stock up on Kindergarten Supplies

Preschools and Kindergartens

The right kindergarten supplies for your child can make a difference in their school experience. If you're homeschooling, you need the right supplies, too. Before your child starts school, stock up on these supplies and give your child the right tools to begin their education.

Five Kindergarten Supplies

Start your child off with a set of number two pencils. They'll use these throughout the school year, so stock up on multi-packs of these pencils. You can find packs of number two pencils just about anywhere, but try to stock up when they're on sale, often right before the school year starts in many office supply stores.

Don't forget the white glue. Kindergarten is all about learning new arts and crafts, and white glue is essential for many of those crafts. Kids love to create, and they more creative they are, the more it will add to their imagination and learning. Make sure you get a non-toxic white glue meant for school use.

Add a box or two of crayons. To encourage your child to draw and use their imaginations, crayons are a must. You can buy larger sets with up to 64 colors or more, but smaller sets are great from the school setting. A box of 24 gives them plenty of color choices, and it's easier for them to carry, too. It's better to buy thin crayons for kindergarteners, because the chunkier ones are harder for their little hands to hold.

Safety scissors are a must for arts and crafts, too. They have a duller blade than other scissors, so they're safer for you child, and you can find them in a wide variety of colors and designs that appeal to children. Make sure your child knows how to use the safety scissors, and they understand they can still be dangerous. They should never run with safety scissors, or point them at other children.

Finally, you'll need a backpack so your child can carry all their kindergarten supplies to and from school. You can choose small, themed backpacks with designs of your child's favorite cartoons or games. Make sure you choose a small backpack that's not too heavy for a kindergartener to carry. You should also check with your child's teacher to find out if there are any other supplies you need before school starts. These kindergarten supplies will make going to school a fun adventure for your child.
