Wedding Planning

Most brides to be aren't sure exactly how to plan a wedding upon getting married. There are many different details that go into planning a wedding, from finding a florist to hiring a caterer and arranging transportation for your guests. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful tips available that can provide you with the secrets to how to plan a wedding you will love.

The key to knowing how to plan a wedding is to understand all the steps you need to take in the planning.

  1. Decide on a budget for your wedding. This will be affected by who is going to pay and how much you want to spend. While tradition dictates that the bride's parents pay, more and more couples are either paying for their own weddings or their parents are splitting the cost. Determine how much money you are working with before you get too far into the planning process
  2. Hire a wedding planner or coordinator. A wedding planner can help to facilitate the easy planning of your wedding. Wedding coordinators and planners know how to plan a perfect wedding, and have established relationships with vendors that can make wedding planning easy. You may even be able to get discounts from some vendors, just for working with a wedding planner who has established a relationship with them.
  3. Choose a location and theme. You may want to get married at a religious location, such as your church, and then have a reception nearby. Alternatively, you may want to have both outside at a park, at your home, or on the beach. You'll need to decide where you want to get married, whether you want it to be formal or informal, and what the theme will be, early on in the planning process
  4. Pick your wedding party and assemble the guest list. The more guests you invite, the higher the cost of your wedding. Make a list of both the bride's and groom's guests and then limit the list as necessary to fit within your budget
  5. Hire wedding vendors. This includes everyone from the cater to the florist to the band to the limo driver. Your wedding planner can give you a list of vendors in your area and you can shop around to find vendors who can provide you with the services you need within your budget
  6. Send out invitations. This should be done two to four months before your wedding, although most people send out save the dates much earlier- as early a six months before the wedding
  7. Outfit the bride, groom and wedding party. For many brides, picking out a wedding dress is one of the most fun parts of planning a wedding.
