Home Decorating Design

HyperLocal search for Interior Decorators
HelloLocal.
Choosing home décor provides a broad array of selections for every room. Finding the perfect home decorating design for your home means wading through the sea of decoration guidelines and figuring out which rules are worth following. Once you toss out the filler, you’ll have a foundation on which to base all your purchases.
All things in moderation
Have you ever visited a friend or family member and found yourself confused by their home decorating design? Did you wonder why roosters, teapots and porcelain dolls jockeyed for attention in the same space? This isn’t simply a new style you don’t know about yet, it’s a problem.
The inability to filter design concepts down to the most basic level often leads the armchair home decorator astray. Coco Chanel is famous for advising women to look in the mirror before a party and remove two accessories in order to look fabulous. The concept applies to your home just as much as it does your clothing. You can have all your favorite home accents as long as your sprinkle them throughout the space. Dolls and roosters look odd together on the sofa table, but work in separate rooms where there’s no need for competition.
Be useful and stylish
Trinket boxes are lovely creations. One or two in your home provide a stylish place for your spare car key. Unless you actually own a plethora of trinkets, do you really need eight in your guest bedroom?
For home decorating design as smart as it is attractive, look for décor that serves a purpose. Buy the decorative croc you’ve had your eye on for the kitchen, but don’t leave it an empty vessel on the counter. Instead, fill it with cooking utensils or seasoning packets to give it purpose. Even candles provide light and aroma in addition to adding color to your room. Trinket boxes, on the other, hold trinkets and little else.
Have a sense of humor
Not every room has to look as though it belongs in a home decorating and design magazine. Infuse your personality into the décor with a touch of whimsy. For example, if your kitchen incorporates rustic country elements, paint a mural of a dairy cow poking her head through the window on your pantry door. It’s unexpected and guests will immediately understand from the rest of the room that it fits your theme. Place a glass slipper or porridge bowls on a wall shelf in a child’s room to enhance a fairy tale atmosphere.
Regardless what décor rules you choose to follow, be willing to break them to achieve the home decorating design of your dreams.
