If you want a beautiful garden, having bees around your house isn’t actually a bad thing. However, when these pests start creating nests in your siding or cause other exterior damage – you may be looking for a way to get rid of bees. Fortunately, bees are easy to get rid of once you or a professional have identified the nest location. The nest is typically located in the ground or attached to the siding on your home. You’ll also want to take preventive measures to ensure the bees don’t return. Here’s how to get rid of bees.

Find the Bees Nest
Getting rid of bees requires finding the nest. These nests are easiest to find late in the evening or early in the morning. That’s because bees are daytime insects; spending most of the day outdoors. But evening is your best choice for spraying because bees move slower in the evening.

Spraying Bee Eliminators
Once you’ve identified the nest location, purchase a bee eliminating product to spray on the area. Before spraying the nest, dress in heavy clothing to protect yourself from bee stings. Sweats with elastic bands at the bottom are a good choice because they prevent bees from flying up your pants. Don't forget to protect your face with a mask. Then, spray the nest thoroughly. It’s normal for the bees to swarm outside, so don’t be alarmed. Just to be safe, spray the bee’s nest again the following evening.

Another viable option is to contact a local beekeeper. This is a safer option for those who may be allergic to bee stings, or would rather not kill or disturb the bees. Beekeepers can safely remove the bees in a protected way. The bees will be moved to a different location, far away from your lovely home. And this way, you haven't harmed the bees or the environment in any way.

Removing the Nest
Once the nest is empty, it’s important to keep it that way. Once you’ve confirmed the pests are gone, knock the nest down with a large stick. When doing this, make sure to wear thick clothing and a mask just in case there are remaining bees. If the nest is inside of the ground, fill it in with dirt. And if the nest is imbedded in the side of your home, contact a professional to repair the area. Some bees, such as carpenter bees, make their homes in rotting wood. So, it’s important to get the issue repaired to avoid future problems or structural damage.

Get Rid of Bees With Professional Help

If you’re apprehensive about removing the bees yourself, consider contacting a professional. They have the right equipment and sprays for removing these pests. Plus, they can identify the nest location and let you know if you need repairs to your home.
