Get Rid of Ants

If you’re struggling with ants, you aren’t alone. This is an issue that many struggle with; especially when the weather gets wet and ants seek indoor cover. But fortunately, there are strategies you can use to get rid of ants.
Seal Cracks
Arts can fit into the smallest cracks in the home. Locate these areas and seal them up with caulking. This will also provide additional insulation in your home.
Use Salt
Salt is a natural way to kill ants, and it’s safe to use around children and pets. Spread it around areas where ants enter including doors and windows. But you’ll need to make sure the areas where you use salt are completely dry to ensure effectiveness.
Use Talc to Deter Ants
Talc is another ingredient that deters ants from invading your home. This substance can be found in baby powder, which can be used around the areas where ants may enter your home. You can also use tailor’s chalk which contains talc.
Use Cornmeal
Cornmeal is another substance that can eliminate ants. It’s safe to use around children and pets, however once ants eat the substance it wreaks havoc on their digestive system resulting in death.
Use Scents
Certain scents are believed to repel ants, including vinegar, which you can use to clean most surfaces in your home. Other scents include: black pepper, cloves and cinnamon. Apply these scents to areas where ants are entering your home. Just make sure to keep children and animals away from the areas because ingestion may cause issues with pets and irritation to children.
Target Ant Nests
You can also get rid of ants by attacking their nests. To find the nest, bait ants with a sweet substance and then watch to see where they go. Once you’ve located the nest, boil water and pour it on the area. Check and make sure the pests are gone and repeat the process if needed.
Other Tips
Once you’ve treated your home for ants, you’ll need to take measures to keep the pests out of your home for good. First, wipe down all hard surfaces daily with a vinegar solution. You’ll also want to mop the floors and vacuum regularly; which will eliminate food or sticky surfaces that attract ants.
Also, store all food in containers that are airtight. This includes dog and cat foods.
Professional Help to Get Rid of Ants
If you’re battling an ant issue and need help, consider contacting a professional. Since they’re experts in eliminating pests, they can get rid of ants and prevent future issues.
