Bird Flu Protection Tips

Avian or Bird Flu originated in Italy, more than a century ago. At the time, the disease was known as “The Fowl Plague.” The virus cropped up in the United States in 1924 and later in 1929. In 1955, health officials agreed that the cause of the Fowl Plague was a strain of type A influenza virus.
Avian flu is a threat to humans, who are not immune to it. It has caused a number of serious illnesses and fatalities during the past decades. Here are some Bird Flu Protection tips:
Maintain Proper Personal Hygiene
• Wash your hands frequently in warm soapy water.
• Do not share drinking vessels or utensils.
• If you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.
• Dispose of tissues in the garbage immediately after use.
• If you do not have a tissue, cough or sneeze in your elbow, not your hand.
Bird Flu Masks
Masks for bird flu protection are also known as nano-masks. These have filters containing nano-particles which, studies show, are very effective at blocking the flu virus. The nano-mask is the first ever breathing mask with the ability to destroy bacteria and viruses using nanotechnology.
Improving your Immune System
You can also protect yourself from avian flu by improving your resistance to the virus.
• Take a probiotic supplement to boost the defensive action of beneficial microbacteria residing in your gastrointestinal tract.
• Treat your allergies, the presence of any allergic reaction immediately weakens the immune system.
• Make sure all your dental problems are treated. Left untreated, ongoing dental disorders will weaken the immune system.
• Eliminate pollutants in your home such as lead, allergens, dust, pet dander and water pollutants.
• Eat a healthy diet.
• Exercise regularly.
• Maintain healthy sleeping habits.
You should contact your physician immediately if you think you may have contracted avian flu, or if you have been handling infected birds within the last ten days, or if you have been traveling in an area that has a known outbreak of avian flu.
