Student Success Services provides high quality one-on-one academic tutoring for learners of all ages and abilities. We are committed to the belief that all human beings naturally desire to learn and that all individuals perform to the best of their ability. Our mission is to enhance the learner’s toolkit by providing individualized teaching and learning strategies, guiding him or her to awaken the learner within. We engage tutors who share our beliefs and demonstrate their ability to successfully motivate and engage learners. Our tutors are facilitators of “learning,” the process in which new ideas are explored, shaped, and combined to create a new understanding. The ability to apply what has been learned is what we call “knowledge.” Our tutors approach the learner with dignity and respect, seeking to build relationships, invent creative solutions, and develop a lifetime love of learning. Through our unique approach to the learning process, we are more successful in reaching all types of learners, including those with learning and behavioral challenges. When we first meet a new learner, our primary goal is to identify the needs and desired outcomes of that individual, gathering input from parents, teachers, and the learner. We assess the individual’s strengths and weaknesses using brief informal assessment tools which, in turn, inform a detailed education plan, consisting of specific learning goals and a timeline for the goals to be reached; all students are treated as individuals, with no two education plans alike. Going forward, each lesson is custom tailored, utilizing, whenever possible, the student’s current school work, to meet the goals laid out by the plan. Regular progress monitoring is used to ensure instruction is benefiting the student, adjusting when needed.
