      Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County is a nonprofit organization that serves youths. It offers programs in the areas of education; health, life skills and leadership development; athletics; and drug, gang and pregnancy prevention. The organization offers Leaders in Training, Teen Speakers Bureau, Torch Club, Keystone and Smart Girls programs. Its health and fitness program includes tournaments, meetings and field trips. It also offers homework assistance, tutoring and mentoring services, as well as reading programs. Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County is a part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which is a national network of more than 4,000 neighborhood-based facilities. Founded in 1906 and headquartered in Atlanta, it offers guidance-oriented character development programs for children. Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County maintains a location in Seaside, Calif.
