The Savannah Regional Detention Center is a Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice facility that serves as a short-term center for youths awaiting trial in juvenile or superior court, or placement elsewhere within the DJJ system. The Savannah facility is one of 21 regional youth detention centers throughout Georgia. The Department of Juvenile Justice provides supervision, detention and a wide range of treatment and educational services for youths referred to the Department by the Juvenile Courts, and provides assistance or delinquency prevention services for at-risk youths through collaborative efforts with other public, private and community entities. The Savannah facility has a capacity for 84 males and 16 females. Along with detention services, it also provides education, individual guidance and counseling, medical services, recreation, and arts and crafts. Clothing, meals, and medical and emergency dental care are a part of the center's basic care program.
